Get a Natural Look With Dental Bridges

A bridge is an ideal method to fill the space created by missing teeth, restoring function and appearance.

A bridge is one or more artificial teeth that are cemented into place using the real teeth on either side for support--hence the name. Bridges are a perfect option for filling the space created by a missing tooth. A bridge replaces the missing tooth both functionally and cosmetically. Bridge work is as much an art as it is an exact science. Bridge materials include gold alloys, porcelain bonded to metal alloy, or all-ceramic material made to match your natural tooth color. The choice of material depends on requirements for strength, wear, and/or esthetics.

Why Do You Need a Dental Bridge?

If you have a missing tooth and want to avoid implant surgery or aren’t a candidate for it, a dental bridge is a great alternative. A bridge restores your smile’s look and function and helps keep nearby teeth from shifting or becoming crowded.

Who Qualifies for a Dental Bridge?

Our dental team will assess your teeth to see if a fixed bridge is right for you. The bridge is anchored to two neighboring teeth for a precise, secure fit. In some cases, larger bridges may need extra support — if we find that a bridge alone isn’t stable enough, we may recommend using dental implants for added strength.

What’s Involved in Getting a Dental Bridge?

To begin, we’ll numb the area with a local anesthetic. Then, we’ll carefully shape the surrounding teeth to make room for your new fixed bridge. Impressions are taken to create both a temporary and a custom permanent bridge. You’ll leave your first visit with a temporary bridge in place. At your second appointment, we’ll remove the temporary bridge and securely place the permanent one with dental-grade adhesive. We’ll polish it, make any needed adjustments, and give you care instructions to help keep your bridge clean and lasting for years to come.
